Wow wow wow!! The smoked and brined wings are absolutely delicious. I also got the turkey sandwich and it is easily the best one i’ve ever had, the turkey was delicious and seasoned perfectly - it blows any other turkey sandwich out of the water. The prices are incredible, $13 dollars for that entire plate of food in an artistic and welcoming venue. highly recommend and we will be back!

First time visiting this small restaurant in the heart of downtown Suffolk. It was quiet and we were the only dine in patrons near closing time on a Saturday night, although there was a LOT of carry out traffic as we waited for our meal. I ordered the Salmon Public Bowl with a cream sauce and fresh green beans over sticky rice and my wife went with the Caribbean Public Bowl with jerk chicken, sauted cabbage, carrots and beans. OMG! The SALMON was so tender it literally required no effort to bite and chew it. The light cream sauce covering the salmon blended together with tender rice and the crunch of the green beans making this the perfect dish! I tasted the jerk chicken as well and it literally was bursting with flavor!
Find a reason to visit downtown Suffolk and try the amazing cuisine. LaShaun is the owner and in my opinion a master chef. She could easily be a chef at any 5 star restaurant in the country but she chose to share her carefully honed skills with the people of Tidewater. She is a master of her craft!
Looks like the General Public Restaurant is back after starting a sister restaurant in Norfolk. Great meals, daily specials are now in force. I posted a picture of the updated menu and prices, along with the daily specials. Don't miss a chance to visit and experience this amazing chef and her menu. You won't regret it. Oh and did I mention the prices are amazing? $13 for the Salmon Bowl blew me away.

Really reasonably priced and good food. We bought the steak bowls with jasmine rice and chocolate chip cookies. The steak was marinated and very savory with light rich seasoned glaze herbs, crunchy onion toppers and perfectly cooked Jasmine rice! The cookies have the really chunky chocolate chips and are in between firm and soft for great texture. Tiffany was an amazing server and was so helpful navigating the menu with all our allergies, she needs a raise! Great quiet small place highly recommend!

I had the salmon bowl and it was fantastic. The flavor was rich and there was a large amount of food in it. I could barely finish it. The sweet tea was also very tasty. My waitress was very friendly and attentive. Overall, I would definitely come back to try other menu options.
